Sunday

Saltcreek Sundance is a Lakota Native American Sundance Ceremony. It is a sacred ceremony among the Lakota people. It is not entertainment. The Native American sponsors share the Great Spirit through songs and prayers.  Please join us on this Canku Luta (Red Road).  Saltcreek Sundance is open to all of the people, not just those of Native American blood.

We welcome all regardless of race or religion.

"A nation is not conquered until the hearts of its women are on the ground.

Then it is finished, no matter how brave its warriors or how strong their weapons."

Tsistsistas, Cheyenne

2010 will be the 19th annual Salt Creek Sundance Ceremony. The sundance is not a rite of passage into manhood, nor is it a test of bravery or courage. Rather, the sundance is a form of prayer. It is one of the seven sacred ceremonies given to the Lakota people.

There are lots of expenses involved with putting on Saltcreek Sundance Ceremony.  There are portapots to rent and there are an amazing number of people who arrive with no food or camping gear.  Everyone chips in to help with these needs. With gas prices as high as they are it is going to be even harder for folks to get here with all that they need. In '10  the need is even more critical with the ever rising gas prices and such.

Coming to Sundance is a good time to clean out your pantry and closets, There are a lot of folks who can use the items that you would donate to goodwill or somewhere else!

Like any other large gathering, putting on a large ceremony has a lot of expenses that must be covered by cash. We have expenses for port-a-pots and dumpsters and many, many others things. We also cover travel expenses for the helpers and singers. See below for a convenient way to donate to your dance.

All donations are greatly appreciated!!
