Sunday
Saltcreek Sundance is a Lakota Native American Sundance Ceremony. It is a sacred ceremony among the Lakota people. It is not entertainment. The Native American sponsors share the Great Spirit through songs and prayers. Please join us on this Canku Luta (Red Road). Saltcreek Sundance is open to all of the people, not just those of Native American blood.
We welcome all regardless of race or religion.

2010 will be the 19th annual Salt Creek Sundance Ceremony. The sundance is not a rite of passage into manhood, nor is it a test of bravery or courage. Rather, the sundance is a form of prayer. It is one of the seven sacred ceremonies given to the Lakota people.

Filled PipeAll space(represented by the powers of the six directions) and all things (represented by the grains of tobacco are concentrated within a single point ( the bowl or heart of the pipe), so that the pipe contains or is the universe, it is also the man, and the one who fills a pipe should identify himself with it, his own center. It is by this explanation that a man ceases to be apart and becomes whole or holy.Pipe Lighting & SmokingThe pipe should be lighted with a coal of the fire and not a blaze( a bic). This is done because the spirit is in the fire of the burning cotton wood coals. The spirits in the blaze of a lighter etc. are going away from the fire.
